1. I have archived much of my life through collected objects.
2. I have moved a smaller studio, making it necessary that I get rid of a lot of these objects.
3. I have done so by using them as the raw material for one enormous collage, created inside a 30-yard dumpster.
4. Oh, also, I have photographed around 500 of these objects and will display them here, accompanied by a brief history of each item.

MY PAGER

7.3 x 4.8 x 2.8 cm

This is my pager from when I moved to New York in 1995. This is how it would work: you would call my number and when you heard 3 beeps, you would enter your number. I would then find a pay phone and call you back, and tell you or what bar I was at or whether I was available to work a 14 hour day the next day, most likely driving a truck around Manhattan collecting crap for a commercial.

  1. This held up a hell of a lot better than any of your cell phones.

  2. That pager is cuter than any modern smartphone in the market, and it's definitely easy to use. It's still useful as a communication tool today, especially if they have no cellphone signal or if you're in an isolated area.

    1. Yes, Pathane, it is pretty cute. Its built is really one of the charms of beepers. You can just imagine how we communicate with each other back in the day using such a small, simple device. It’s very different from the mobile phones today. It’s a miracle how we survived with just pagers! :D
